The support shown by individuals and governments of so many nations is very heartening. And that we are receiving support even from some that have been openly against us is amazing!

I think we are still sort of in shock by the events. The re-runs of the footage of the planes hitting the WTC does not get any easier to watch. The snippets of info being collected now by piecing some of the cell phone calls made by passengers on the planes to their relatives keeps me from despairing, as it shows even in the face of danger and certain death, these people showed courage to the last. 

Watching all the members of the House of Representatives, even political adversaries, join hands and singing "America the Beautiful" in front of the Capitol yesterday was a very emotional moment. 

I think the terrorists have misjudged us as a nation.

THIS WEEK'S HONORARY UNSUBSCRIBE goes to the flight crew and passengers aboard United Airlines flight 93. The passengers knew the plane had been hijacked and realized that they were pawns in a larger plot. By
vowing they were "going to do something" (as one said to his wife on his cell phone before the crash), they foiled the use of their plane as a bomb the same way the two planes that hit the WTC and the one that hit the Pentagon were. The dozens of passengers -- mothers, fathers, sons and daughters -- were killed on impact in eastern Pennsylvania the morning of September 11 ...or were killed slightly before that during their attempts to fight off the several terrorists.

Good evening everyone here both near and far and both in the US and Europe and all abroad from us.

I wanted to touch base with all of you and share my gratitude for all the well wishes that are coming through the list.

It is indeed a sad time for us here in the United States coupled with anger and grief...some of that being very hard to handle and cope with for many are still stunned and the reality of it all is still sinking in. 

I understand the magnitude of multiple feelings, some of them the normal process of grief, fear and shock....and have at times (other times of war) been through these same feelings...not knowing what to think, not knowing how to process the feelings, the magnitude of anger that you feel and the revenge that you wish to seek. We all seek revenge in our inner hearts and minds for the people that brought this destruction upon us. That I understand the most as I work in the criminal system, and on death issues...so I have walked some of the darkest valleys there is to walk. another valley I have personally walked is a child murdered and a cousin murdered to only have the people who did this still be free today. So I know this anger and this revenge.

I think at we all need to remember that as a country...we will stand strong in our beliefs, we will stand strong and we will survive this dreadful time...we will find who did this to our nation...but we also too must remember that revenge in our hearts will only bring bitterness and our Gracious Father above did not instill that in our beings. We must place our faith in Him now at this hour.

Yes many probably ask, why did He let this happen? There are no answers to this...there never will be any answers to this except in your Old Testament when Eve took of the forbidden fruit...which then brought death, evil and destruction to our universe. As horrid as you may feel I am...for saying this, in the ultimate end there was a reason this happened. Does that make me feel better Hell no...but One day we will all understand why it was allowed for such evil to happen.

so you see, we all have feelings and emotions about what is going on...but we must remember to share the passion in a good way...not a derogatory way...

We moderators are trying our hardest to maintain civility while we all deal with our emotions for we have people here from all walks of life...and if we blatantly blast our anger and revenge here someone is going to really really be hurt by something as innocent as an email.

I encourage you to share your grief, your well wishes and the many beautiful graphics that have been made..I encourage you to make and create memorial sites for those lost to the evil...but I ask you to keep the petitions off the list. If you feel that you must or need to send the petitions through the list, then I am asking on behalf of Jane and all moderators to send them privately to those that you think might like to sign them. 

The petitions that I have personally seen and it has been many are ugly and nasty and of no purpose...and will go no place. Maybe they will make you feel better or ease some of that anger you feel, but please do not do it here..

I am asking out of compassion for the victims of this tragedy and for the sake of peace. The one thing we all need to grasp right now....
