Spike's & Jamie's 911 Memorial Page
|
We are dedicating this
page to the friends and families of those killed or injured during the cowardly
attack on an innocent American civilian population on 9/11/01; also to the
rescue workers and volunteers who have given so much of themselves to help
during this tragedy - some have given all.

My
drink of choice is WATER - what do YOU drink??
Could your favorite beverage be funding bin Laden's group?

Ode to an Angel
Do you know why little girl, the world saw you die
Do you understand politics or hatred or the reason why?
Do you feel a nations tears and love
As you look down on the universe from above?
You never got a hug goodbye
And now looking down you see your relatives cry
Do you understand what hatred can do
Do you understand why death happened to you?
Oh little child all the things on earth you'll miss
School days, sunshine, your first boyfriends kiss.
And your poor parents everyday will think of you
And all the things you'll never get to see or do.
It's so very sad child this world full of hate
and now for you it's too late.
But as you look down you sense and know
That your tragic ending will make peoples grow
Some will forever change their view
Just because of what happened to you.
And though you might not understand why
you changed the world when hatred caused you to die.

We Will Stand
Did you think, for a moment, we would waiver?
Did you hope, for an instant, we might fall?
Do we look like scared, weak children?
A young nation with no strength at all?
When you look here, do you see us fearful?
Do we seem to be searching for light?
Are we shaking, pale, sweating and worried?
Lambs afraid of wolves in the night?
Do we shrink from loud voices of anger?
Do we stand tall but refuse to fight?
Are we pushing our way through a crowded world,
telling all others they're wrong and we're right?
Have we not earned our right to a voice?
Should we sit quietly until asked to speak?
You would have us punished for giving a choice,
of hope and prosperity to the helpless and weak.
If this is so:
Look again at the children you've threatened.
Note carefully the look in our eyes.
We've not wavered from our path of freedom.
Through tears of anger, not fear, come our cries!
The old forest holds many dark dangers.
We have seen loss and death at the door.
Young we may be, we won't deny it.
But we're strong, proud, brave and sure.
We've beaten foes with loud violent voices.
Taken stripes from those we meant to defend.
And together we've learned some harsh lessons,
and been stronger for that in the end.
So when you think to strike at our weakest,
When you would hide from the brave in our land,
When your scared to face up to our anger,
for acts of cowardice brought about by your hand.
Don't run, you can't hide forever.
Stand up and make yourself known.
You strike against women and children,
and then hide from the anger we've shown.
Don't think if you push us, we'll fall.
Don't hope we don't have strength in hand.
Don't think we would back down and steal away in the night,
Because that's a mistake, old friend.
We will stand!

I am the American you killed on Tuesday. I have many faces. I am an airline pilot, I am a secretary, I am a police officer, I am a flight attendant, I am a firefighter, I am a street vendor. I can be all of these things because I am, first and foremost, an American.
I am also a Father, a Mother, a sister, a brother. I am an aunt, an uncle, a Grandmother, a Grandfather. I am a child. Even though I am all of these things, I am first and foremost, an American.
You can break my body, you can destroy my buildings. But you will never break my spirit nor destroy my essence. Because I am, first and foremost, an American.
I will live forever in the hearts of loved ones, and in the hearts of my countrymen. With every flag that is flown, with every story that is told, I will survive. Because I am, first and foremost, an American.
